At SpecialtyCare, we take pride in hiring talented clinicians and technicians who are passionate about the work they do and interested in building their careers in healthcare. Our ambition is to train them well and deploy them in environments where they can seamlessly integrate with OR teams around the country, providing excellence in patient care as they learn more skills and achieve their professional goals.
Alexia Jacobs joined SpecialtyCare as an SN1, and she has since grown into the role of Regional Education Manager. With a background in high-acuity cases and a passion for learning and teaching, she’s dedicated to empowering others and keeping patient care at the heart of her work. We interviewed Alexia to find out more about how she is maximizing her career with SpecialtyCare and delivering value to those she serves.

Diving into the SN1 Training Program and Acquiring New Skills
Alexia says she was drawn to the SN1 program because it provides a structured, hands-on approach to learning as a clear path for growth. Not only that, but she was familiar with it through her mother’s work as an RNP for SpecialtyCare, so it made sense for her to dive right in. She picked up a wealth of high-impact skills along the way.
“The most valuable skills I gained were adaptability in high-pressure situations, strong communication skills, and the ability to problem-solve quickly in the OR,” says Alexia. But the learning didn’t stop there. “I’ve pursued advanced training in high-acuity case types, developed leadership skills through mentoring others, and continued my education through a graduate certificate in Biomedical Neuroscience. I also prioritize staying current with industry advancements and best practices.”
Alexia’s proactive approach to increasing her knowledge and skills paid off. She found that she really enjoyed teaching others, and it led her to leadership positions. “My experience training in high-acuity case types early on in my career, as well as exposure to multiple different teams, facilities, and surgeons, prepared me well for progression into training and support roles.”

How SpecialtyCare Supports Career Growth
Alexia started as an SN1 in 2017, accepted a role as Regional Education Coordinator in 2021, and became Regional Education Manager in early 2026. Alexia appreciates how SpecialtyCare empowered her ability to reach her professional goals.
“SpecialtyCare has provided access to support, mentorship, and opportunities I needed to keep growing in my career. The culture encourages professional curiosity and supports advancement for those willing to put in the work,” she says. “ means being part of a company that values long-term growth, invests in its people, and allows me to contribute to something bigger than myself.”
Alexia’s advancement didn’t come without challenges, but she embraced them. The best complement to ambition is adaptation. “Moving into education meant learning how to communicate complex ideas in ways that click for different people,” says Alexia. “I overcame that by staying patient, using different teaching methods, and always staying open to feedback.”
Looking back on her journey, Alexia has advice for those seeking to advance into leadership from an SN1 role. “Take initiative — look for ways to go beyond your assigned cases, volunteer to help peers, and seek feedback from colleagues and leaders,” she says.
