SpecialtyCare participates in one out of every seven heart procedures in America, and is trusted by over 1,200 hospitals across our service lines. Recently, a group of SpecialtyCare team members traveled to Jamaica for a medical mission trip to provide critical cardiac surgeries for children. Over five operative days, the team performed life-saving heart surgeries for fourteen Jamaican children.
14 Heart Procedures Performed Over 5 Days
SpecialtyCare team member Dr. Jeffrey P. Jacobs, MD, FACS, FACC, FCCP, was the leader of the trip, which only succeeded with the collaboration of our Jamaican hosts, our generous sponsors, our hardworking team members, and the dedicated medical staff in Jamaica. A complex range of procedures were performed to increase the life and livelihood of the children undergoing the operations, including:
- 1 Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) repair
- 1 Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) repair – REDO S/P prior systemic-to-pulmonary artery shunt
