Meet Alex
As an Operating Room Specialist Manager (OSM), Alex has been with SpecialtyCare for nearly five years. His journey to this role has been fueled by a desire for hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the operating room environment.
A Passion for the OR
When asked why he chose his current role, Alex explained, “I wanted to gain a better understanding of the OR and more hands-on experience with the instrumentation.” This drive is evident in his daily work and commitment to improving surgical outcomes.
A Journey of Growth
Alex holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, which laid the foundation for his career in the medical field. His typical day begins early, arriving at the hospital around 6:45 AM to prepare for the first case of the day. From setting up the OR to ensuring all instrumentation is functioning correctly, his attention to detail plays a crucial role in the surgical process.
“I make sure the OR is set up correctly for the surgery that is about to take place and check with the OR staff to ensure they have what they need,” he shares. After each case, he processes the instrumentation to prepare it for sterilization, ensuring that everything runs smoothly for subsequent procedures.
Team Spirit and City Pride
What does Alex love most about his team? “Everyone’s willingness to jump in and help out whenever they are needed.” This camaraderie enhances their ability to provide exceptional patient care.
Living in Nashville, Alex appreciates the vibrant music scene and the outdoor activities the city has to offer. “There is always something to do outdoors and enjoy downtown,” he says.
Rewarding Moments
The most rewarding aspect of Alex’s job is the impact he makes on patients’ lives through robotics in surgery. However, he also recognizes the hard work that often goes unnoticed in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). “The amount of time and effort it takes in SPD is so important to ensure the OR runs smoothly,” he notes.
Encouragement for Future Colleagues
If Alex could encourage anyone to join his team, he would say, “Centennial is a great team to be a part of because of the wide range of surgeries you get to see and be a part of.”
Reflecting on his career, Alex advises his younger self to “always be open to learning new skills and soaking up as much knowledge as possible during the early stages to help advance your career.”
Join Us in Celebrating
This CIM Week, let’s celebrate Alex and the incredible work he does every day to support patients and his team. Thank you for your dedication, Alex! We’re proud to have you as part of the SpecialtyCare family.
