A Journey to Leadership
Trey stepped into his current role as Area Manager in February 2024, marking a pivotal moment in his career. His path began in 2013 when he found himself in a job that lacked passion. Eager to explore the medical field, he took a chance on a job posting he saw on Indeed. Eleven years later, he reflects, “It was the best decision I have ever made.” By year three, he climbed the ranks from Lead Technician to Supervisor, eventually becoming Clinical Manager in 2016. After successfully running the #3 Neuro & Surgical Care account in the company, he was promoted to Area Manager.
Embracing Challenges and Growth
Reflecting on his journey, Trey emphasizes the importance of seizing opportunities. “I took a chance and applied,” he recalls. Once he accepted the position, he dedicated himself to learning every facet of the business. “In our line of work, you learn something new every day,” he adds, noting that absorbing information and applying it is key to success.
A Day in the Life
Currently, Trey’s daily routine is immersed in clinical work, where he and his teams ensure operations run smoothly. “We’re in the weeds every day, supporting our associates and managing the day-to-day business,” he explains. While there will come a time when he focuses more on business operations, for now, his priority is his team and their collaborative efforts.
Celebrating Team Diversity
One aspect of his role that Trey cherishes is the diversity within his team. “We have people of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds, and we mesh really well together,” he shares. This closeness fosters a supportive work environment, making each day enjoyable.
Love for His Community
Living in a small college town has its perks, according to Trey. “If you want a good bar or restaurant, this is the place to be. Everything is just a 15-minute ride away,” he notes about Greenville, NC, and its evolving scene.
The Rewards of Service
The most rewarding part of Trey’s job is the impact his team has on patients, families, and surgeons. “Knowing that the service we provide makes operations smoother and enhances patient care is incredibly fulfilling,” he reflects. Additionally, he appreciates the recognition he has received from upper leadership, which has helped him feel valued in his role.
Lifelong Learning
One surprise in his career has been the vast amount of knowledge to gain. “I tell clinicians they will learn something new every single day for at least the first year,” he says, emphasizing the dynamic nature of the operating room.
An Invitation to Join
For anyone considering a career with SpecialtyCare, Trey has a clear message: “If you’re looking for a career that will keep you moving, learning, and feeling meaningful, join our team.” He believes in the importance of their work and the recognition they receive from facilities and surgeons.
Looking Back
If Trey could offer advice to his younger self, it would be to “learn as much as possible. Make yourself a success in this company; no one is going to do it for you.”
