Kirti Patel joins SpecialtyCare

Brentwood, TN, January 14, 2019 – SpecialtyCare, the market leader in outsourced cardiac perfusion services, announced today that Kirti Patel, MPS, MPH, BS, CCP, LP, CPBMT, founder of the Cardiovascular Perfusion Program at University of Texas Health Science Center McGovern Medical School and 19-year veteran in the perfusion industry has joined the company.

Patel will serve as national clinical specialist and clinical manager, based at Houston Methodist Hospital, leading a staff of four perfusionists. He will utilize his extensive background in research to work with SpecialtyCare’s medical department in maintaining SCOPE (SpecialtyCare Operative Procedural Registry™), the largest data repository in allied health. Patel will also play an integral role in growing SpecialtyCare’s perfusion service line in the Houston area.

Patel began his career as staff perfusionist and instructor, first at the Texas Heart Institute, where he received his perfusion training, and later at the Medical University of South Carolina, Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital, and Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. Patel moved into a leadership role at the University of Texas Health Science Center, as program director and clinical perfusionist, where Patel was tasked with starting the UTHealth Cardiovascular Perfusion Program.

Patel, is highly regarded in the industry, presenting at perfusion and other cardiac-related conferences worldwide and authoring or co-authoring nearly 20 articles in leading medical journals. He has also been nominated for two of the three most prestigious awards given by AmSECT ¬– Clinical Excellence Award and Perfusionist of the Year. In 2013, Kirti was awarded Perfusionist of the Year.
