SpecialtyCare Celebrates National Health Center Week

This year, SpecialtyCare is proud to celebrate National Health Center Week from August 8-14! National Health Center Week raises awareness of the mission and notable accomplishments of health centers across the nation for the past five decades.

The Contributions of Community Health Centers

Each day of National Health Center Week dedicates its focus to particular areas.

Sunday, 8/8: Public Health in Housing Day

When health centers understand their patients’ needs, they can address their clinical and non-clinical needs to improve health outcomes and lower costs.

Monday, 8/9: Healthcare for the Homeless Day

Health centers serve 1.3 million individuals experiencing homelessness each year. They provide targeted funding to meet the needs of those living without stable housing.

Tuesday, 8/10: Agricultural Worker Health Day

Health centers develop effective strategies to increase access to care for migrant and seasonal agricultural workers and their families. On average, health centers have served 20% of the estimated 4.5 million agricultural workers in the United States.

Wednesday, 8/11: Patient Appreciation Day

Community board members live in the community served by the health center, are patients, and represent others who the health center serves. This model ensures that patients represent the needs and voices of the community.

Thursday, 8/12: Stakeholder Appreciation Day

Both political sides proudly support health centers. This bipartisan support is beneficial for advocacy and policy priorities. In turn, health centers are integral to their success.

Friday, 8/13: Health Center Staff Appreciation Day

Health centers are extremely valuable and dedicated to their communities by providing high-quality care to patients in need.

Saturday, 8/14: Children’s Health Day

Community health centers provide primary healthcare to more than 8 million people nationwide. Additionally, they host events that help children feel happy, healthy, and empowered.

Especially over this past year, health centers have displayed immense strength, service, and care. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, they have found innovative ways to provide preventative and primary care to their patients.
