Outdoor Living

There’s so much to do out in the sunshine that it’s hard to keep track. For starters, there are 46 parks in the area (covering 16,000 acres of parkland and trail) and 4 miles of breathtaking public beaches that are left in their natural state instead of commercialized. It also has one of the only dog beaches in Palm Beach County for pet owners. Then there’s Mizner Park downtown, a Mediterranean-style center with eateries and shops out in the sunshine. It also hosts the Center for the Arts which includes an amphitheater and the Boca Raton Museum of Art.

And get this. If you live in Boca Raton, you can take a ferry ride to the Bahamas any time you feel like it. About 85 miles east of the town across the Atlantic is the second-biggest city in the Bahamas called Freeport. How many other locations you know that can offer a Bahamas trip?

A Great Place to Retire

With a metro population under 100,000, Boca Raton still has a small town feel with all the happenings of a big city. In Boca, 21% of the residents are age 65 or older thanks to fantastic weather, great healthcare options, and mellower pace of life throughout the city. There’s also a more favorable tax structure in Florida for retirees, with no state income tax and no tax on social security benefits.  In addition, Boca has numerous housing choices specifically designed for retirees, with apartments near the beach and gated communities near the coast. It’s for these reasons that Boca was once voted the #3 to retire in the U.S. by Livability.

Close to Miami

Any time you want to pick up the pace or spice things up in everyday life, Miami is less than an hour away. Enjoy a day trip or weekend getaway as you hit the nightlife scene or check out a sporting event. Speaking of sports, Miami gives you access to the NBA Heat, the MLB Marlins and the NFL Dolphins. And if you ever feel like changing up your beach scenery from Boca, Miami has a whopping 50 miles of beaches to explore, including the most famous, South Beach.
